Kaspersky Lab Int. announces the new name of its flagship product and new trademark

New logo for Kaspersky® Anti-VirusCambridge, UK, November 10, 2000 - Kaspersky Lab Int., an international data-security software-development company, announces the name change of its flagship anti-virus product from AntiViral Toolkit Pro (AVP) to Kaspersky® Anti-Virus, and the new trademark name for Kaspersky Lab's product line, KasperskyTM, taking effect on 10 November.

The name of Kaspersky Lab's software AntiViral Toolkit Pro, and its abbreviation, AVP have been well known amongst users for many years. The next three months will be a period of co-existence as the old, Antiviral Toolkit Pro (AVP), gives way to the new, KasperskyTM Anti-Virus. On February 1, 2001, this co-existence will cease, and the new official name for the line of Kaspersky Lab anti-virus products will be KasperskyTM Anti-Virus.

"The name change of our trademark is has occurred for two reasons," comments Natalya Kaspersky, the company's CEO. "First and foremost is the diversification of Kaspersky Lab's business. Our company is changing its focus from pure anti-virus software development to producing a wide range of data security software. In addition, the new trademark shows a clear relationship between the product and the company name."

The significant rise in the company's potential has allowed for the development of new technologies, extending the spectrum of security solutions. KasperskyTM as a trademark will include not only the well-known anti-virus software, but also some new products; for instance, KasperskyTM Inspector and KasperskyTM WEB Inspector, which are unique data integrity control systems allowing customers to supervise data content stored on local disks and Web servers.

Simultaneously with the new trademark name, Kaspersky Lab is delighted to introduce the new logo for the family of KasperskyTM Anti-Virus products, whose strong design clearly reflects the company's portfolio.

"This year has become a milestone in the company's development. We have managed to change from a small company, operating within national borders, to a global data security developer having a strong position in many countries all around the world. The announcement of the new KasperskyTM Anti-Virus logo is just the first step in the realisation of strategic changes in the company's image. As well as the new trademark name, this step symbolises the start of a new stage for Kaspersky Lab," announced Natalya Kaspersky, Kaspersky Lab CEO.
