Kaspersky Lab Int. and Talanto Technologies join forces to fight e-mail aware viruses
Cambridge, UK, December 18, 2000 - Kaspersky Lab Int., an international data-security software-development company, and Talanto Technologies, a leading Russian Internet-service provider, have announced an alliance to provide users of the popular free e-mail service server, CMAIL.RU, with free real-time virus protection for e-mail correspondence.
The virus protection system is based on Kaspersky® Anti-Virus (AVP) for Sendmail gateways running on the Linux operating system. It provides users with automatic real-time virus checking for all incoming and outgoing messages and attached files. Kaspersky® Anti-Virus (AVP) protects against all types of malicious code, including computer viruses, Internet worms and Trojan horses. When a virus attack is discovered, the program warns both the sender and recipient of the infected message by sending out an e-mail notification containing details about the virus name and location.
Kaspersky® Anti-Virus (AVP) performs anti-virus scanning immediately after the CMAIL.RU server receives an e-mail message or at the moment a user tries to attach a file to the message being composed. This eliminates the chance of sending or running an infected file while casually forgetting to check it for viruses.
Kaspersky® Anti-Virus (AVP) is also powered by a feature that enables scanning in nested messages, embedded OLE objects and even inside archived and compressed files of any nesting level; i.e., those that have been archived several times using different archive utilities. Even if a virus is hidden in a ZIP archive placed in an ARJ archive and then into an RAR archive, Kaspersky® Anti-Virus (AVP) still neutralises it. Thanks to the unique, second generation heuristic code analyser integrated into Kaspersky® Anti-Virus (AVP), CMAIL.RU users are protected against even unknown viruses that could be discovered. The program provides a 92%-detection-rate of unknown viruses, proving to be one of the best in the world.
