Kaspersky Lab invites users to participate in the beta testing of Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 2006

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions, invites all interested parties to take part in the beta testing of Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 2006. This new generation of protection is designed for personal computers using new information security technologies.

This new antivirus tool for PCs offers a range of benefits, including a new user interface which is based on user feedback. Antivirus scanning is now faster, and the antivirus protection has been enhanced with integrated technologies which ensure proactive protection even against the very latest malicious programs, while eliminating the need to update antivirus databases.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2006 utilizes the very latest antivirus technologies in conjunction with tried and tested methods, monitoring all possible infection vectors such as file operations, data storage locations, email and Internet connections. These are complemented by cutting edge technologies which detect malicious programs that have not yet been included in antivirus databases. This proactive protection identifies malicious programs according to behavior and has an extremely low rate of false positives. It is also possible to reverse the effects of malicious code on the file system and the system registry.

The updating of the antivirus databases has also been improved to ensure optimal security. Users of Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2006 also now have the advantage of warding off the full spectrum of malicious programs including spyware, as well as creating a barrier against other programs which appear hostile.

Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2006 detects malicious programs more quickly than its predecessor, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.0. The iStream technology in version 5.0 has been updated to iSwift, resulting in an increased processing speed.

Combined user friendliness and minimal use of system resources, functional components supplement new methods that automatically support the computer's performance. Specifically, technology designed to log user activity, providing continuous antivirus detection in the file systems, and continuous monitoring when new files are written to the system. In some cases, if the user wishes to activate similar processes (such as launching an audio process or an exceptionally large text document), Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2006 suspends operations, thus freeing resources for other processes.

The collection and presentation of data has also been optimized. Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2006 incorporates a system which collects and displays statistics on the performance of all program components. This enables users to monitor the current level of protection. Users can also automatically contact Kaspersky Lab technical support via the product interface if problems arise. Comprehensive help in question and answer form is also integrated into the product.
