Kaspersky Lab announces the commercial release of an updated product for Lotus Notes / Domino
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content management solutions that protect against viruses, Trojans, worms, hacker attacks, spyware and spam, announces the release of a new version of Kaspersky® Anti-Virus for Lotus Notes/Domino. This popular solution that protects mail systems – version 5.5 - includes a number of significant modifications and improvements to its architecture and code.
A major enhancement to Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Lotus Notes/Domino is its improved performance which allows several copies of the antivirus engine in to run in parallel, making it possible to use a separate antivirus engine for each component of the solution responsible for information security (i.e., email scanner, antivirus monitor and replication traffic scanner). In addition, messages are no longer need to be saved in a temporary mail folder for antivirus scanning and mail traffic processing, which increases the speed of scanning.
The application is also now more reliable when used on Lotus Notes/Domino mail server arrays. If a replication operation is performed on an array, then all replication traffic is scanned for each server.
Finally, the release of this new version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Lotus Notes/Domino has made the solution even more convenient for system administrators, primarily due to the program's interface with the standard interface of Lotus Notes/Domino. The introduction of support for cluster-based and distributed configurations has made administering an antivirus systems installed on several servers much easier. Updating antivirus databases on each of the servers in an array protected by Kaspersky® Anti-Virus is fully automated. Additionally, it is now easier to install the application on a server, given that the installation mechanism has been brought in line with the standard Windows procedures, familiar to every IT specialist.
Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 5.5 for Lotus Notes/Domino provides antivirus protection for mail systems using Lotus Notes/Domino. The program is installed on a server running the Windows 2000/2003 operating system and scans all mail sent and received via the server, as well as all database files, for viruses and other malicious code. Both message bodies and attachments are scanned, including attached archives and compressed executable files, as well as attached email messages and mail database files. Importantly, Kaspersky Anti-Virus for Lotus Notes/Domino can treat both message bodies and attached files.
This antivirus solution includes a broad range of features related to processing and treating suspicious objects. In particular, files can be filtered based on the file types specified in the program's settings. If an infected, damaged or suspicious object is detected, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 5.5 for Lotus Notes/Domino will move it to a special quarantine folder, where it can be further analyzed. The notification system can send notifications of attempts to send infected messages to a specific recipient or to a mailing list defined by the administrator. All relevant details of results from the program's operation are recorded in a log that is structured to provide a complete range of operating details.
