The proactive protection built into Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 shows impressive results in comparative tests conducted by AV-Comparatives.
A test of various proactive protection systems conducted in October 2006 by AV-Comparatives, an authoritative Austrian lab, has demonstrated unparalleled reliability and effectiveness of the proactive defense module of Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0.
All products tested, with the exception of Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0, are positioned as standalone dedicated solutions that provide proactive protection against unknown malicious programs. Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 was the only product among those tested in which proactive protection is only one of the components in an integrated security system that also includes traditional (reactive) antivirus protection, protection against network attacks and phishing, a spam filtration system etc.
The products were tested by executing a series of 40 existing malicious programs of different types on the lab’s computers, such as Warezov (W32/Stration), Bagle, Polip and Mydoom, and comparing the number of malicious programs that each product’s protection system failed to block.
The test results, which were published in a report titled “Comparative of Various Technologies to Protect Systems against Malware”, show that the Proactive Defense Module of Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0 blocked malicious actions of all forty ITW samples used in the test. Also, as AV-Comparatives analysts say in the report, the Kaspersky Lab product not only successfully blocked all threats from the unknown malicious programs and categorized them correctly (i.e. Trojans, worms etc.), but was also able to roll back all the changes made by the malware.
