Kaspersky Lab’s newest proactive defense module is rated highly by AV-Comparatives testers
AV-Comparatives, an independent Austrian antivirus test lab, recently analyzed the reliability and effectiveness of the proactive protection module in Kaspersky® Anti-Virus 6.0. Tests were conducted using an in-house collection of 6,329 samples, including 3,175 backdoors, 2,720 other Trojans, 294 email worms, 124 script viruses and 16 other viruses. During testing, only the proactive defense module of Kaspersky Anti-Virus was enabled.
Kaspersky Lab’s latest personal products, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 and Kaspersky Internet Security 6.0, combine award-winning reactive technologies from previous product versions with newly developed proactive technologies. Kaspersky Lab’s signature-based (reactive) technologies demonstrated impressive detection results in February 2006 (http://www.av-comparatives.org/seiten/ergebnisse_2006_02.php). The recent results from AV-Comparatives showed that Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 provides exceptionally effective proactive protection – having detected 99% of the AV-Comparatives collection.
“Different kinds of antivirus tests we conduct are designed to clarify the pros and cons of different antivirus products, and also to determine the level of each product’s quality,” says Andreas Clementi, project manager of AV-Comparatives test laboratory. “The sixth version of Kaspersky Anti-Virus did its best in its separate proactive defense module test, detecting most of the malware we executed, showing the excellent developers’ work and high quality of the product.”
