Kaspersky Lab and MegaFon have entered into a partnership
Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content and threat management solutions, and MegaFon, the first all-Russian mobile operator, have entered into a partnership. MegaFon users can now access an application based on Kaspersky Mobile Security, a solution that provides protection against all kinds of mobile threats.
"Modern mobile devices have become an essential part of our everyday lives. Most smartphones know everything about their owners, too much even some might say. They know who you called, who you SMS'd and even how much you spent and where – mobile users often get reports about their transactions via SMS messages. The information stored on a mobile device is very valuable," says Sergey Nevstruev, Head of Mobile Solutions at Kaspersky Lab. "Kaspersky Mobile Security considerably reduces the risk of data loss. The solution includes some unique functions that provide greatly enhanced privacy protection to mobile users. I am very glad that MegaFon's clients now have a readily available way to protect their phones."
"Mobile Internet offers its users excellent opportunities to access information, entertainment and social networking sites. However, such access to the global web poses serious threats to mobile phones. Thanks to Kaspersky Lab our subscribers can now protect their mobile handsets and the data stored on them. MegaFon's aim is to ensure that our mobile services are as convenient and user-friendly as possible for our customers,”" says Larisa Tkachuk, Chief Commercial Officer of MegaFon.
The MegaFon-KMS application is completely unique within the Russian mobile market. Kaspersky Mobile Security (KMS), the first product designed exclusively to protect smartphones, is provided to the mobile operator's clients via a subscription service.
Following activation, the product offers a 30-day try-before-you-buy period that allows the user to see the benefits of the solution for themselves. After the trial period has finished, users will have the option to buy Kaspersky Mobile Security for 80 rubles per month, including VAT.
Kaspersky Mobile Security is available for download from the official MegaFon web-site, with additional information about the solution available from the 'Services' section.
The MegaFon-KMS application is designed to protect smartphones running Windows Mobile and the Symbian OS from malicious programs, SMSs and spam, as well as preventing data loss in the event that the mobile device is lost or stolen. The integrated Anti-theft module allows remote blocking of the smartphone, as well as remote data deletion. If the SIM card is replaced, the SIM Watch module will covertly send the real owner an email with the new number, allowing the owner to then block the phone and wipe its memory. If your smartphone is missing, you can locate it easily using the SMS Find function. Just send an SMS with the appropriate password to the missing device and you will receive a link to Google Maps showing you the device's exact location.
