Maintenance Pack 1 contains additional functionality for Kaspersky® Anti-Virus for MS Exchange Server (version 4.2), and prevents attacks on protected systems via the system security vulnerability associated with message fragmentation and reassembly (described in RFC2046, section 5.2.2.1). This specific method permits messages to be divided and sent in fragments, which may then be verified incorrectly by anti-virus filters built into the MS Exchange anti-virus API.

Maintenance Pack 1 eliminates the special procedure allowing the construction of fragmented messages. With MS Exchange 2000 such messages are blocked, and with MS Exchange 5.5 they are deleted.
