Kaspersky Lab, an international data-security software developer announces the extension of its Checkmark certification for Kaspersky Anti-Virus Personal. Checkmark is the certification of software and hardware security systems. Achieving Checkmark certification attests that a product meets stringent quality standards. These standards have for many years been defined by the British scientific research center, West Coast Labs (www.check-mark.com), which also conducts product testing.
Today Checkmark certification is the de facto standard the world over and it represents a defining factor in determining the value of an anti-virus product. Checkmark certification confirms that a product passed all the required tests and demonstrated 100% effectiveness in counteracting malicious programs.
Kaspersky Lab has been undergoing West Coast Labs certification testing since 1998. Over the years the companies' products have been regularly tested and have proved to be reliable and highly effective anti-virus solutions.
Presently, the West Coast Labs research center tests anti-virus programs according to three levels of certification - Level 1, Level 2 and Trojan Checkmark. Achieving Level 1 confirms that a product scored 100% in detecting all the viruses in the independent, international organization 'Wildlist' (www.wildlist.org). Completing Level 2 demonstrates a solution's 100% effectiveness in curing the viruses contained in the 'wildlist', which implies that a product is able to restore infected file content and boot sectors to their full previous capacity. Lastly, The Trojan Checkmark level testifies that an anti-virus program is able to detect all the trojan programs in the vast West Coast Labs collection. Kaspersky® Anti-Virus Personal successfully completed all three testing levels - extending its Checkmark certification.
