Kaspersky Lab is pleased to announce Magnus Kalkuhl as the newest member of its international team of virus analysts. Magnus, 31, joins the staff of the company’s German office and his responsibilities will include monitoring the virus situation in Germany, as well as investigating network incidents.

“Organizations and enterprises often don’t realize that they have been attacked. One of my tasks at Kaspersky Lab is to analyze the ways in which malicious code penetrates enterprise networks, what files are at risk and what traces of malicious code are left in the system. This can help enterprises take pre-emptive steps to minimize the potential threat, as well as mitigate the consequences of an attack if one occurs,” says Magnus.

Magnus will focus his efforts at Kaspersky Lab on research and the preparation of analytical papers, as well as liaising with independent research institutions. He will work in close collaboration with virus experts from the Russian Federation, Romania, Great Britain, France, the US and the Netherlands.

Before joining Kaspersky Lab, Magnus worked as an independent consultant in IT security, and as a technical manager of international projects. His clients included Daimler Chrysler and Volkswagen.

Magnus began his career in the IT industry as an editor at PC Player magazine (DMV / Franzis Verlag Publishers). From 1999 to 2001 he worked as a developer in the interactive department (Zentropy Partners, now MRM Partners) of McCann Erickson, and later as technical director of projects for a number of high profile clients, such as MasterCard, L'OREAL Paris and Unilever.
